Please give me as much advanced notice as possible. Although I am currently in solo practice, I still work closely with other midwives through formal and informal consultations using a system of care in line with the College standard. I stay current with research on maternity care so that you and your family receive evidence-based information with which to make your decisions. I intend to attend the births of all women I take into care. However, if I am unable to attend your baby’s birth due to unforeseen circumstances, (for example, two women are in labour at the same time) you will be attended by another midwife. You need to contact me immediately if you are bleeding or if your membranes rupture.
